A.M.Al-Refai Library offers the following training sessions to support the instructional needs of faculty, staff and students at GUST. Interested patrons must register at least a day prior to the session at the library.
Information Literacy
Information literacy (a.k.a Information Competence) is defined
as the ability to access, evaluate, organize, and use
information from a variety of sources effectively.
Sunday:

EBSCO Databases
Learn how to create and execute a search strategy that will retrieve highly-relevant information using EBSCO databases and e-journals for your economics class, your sociology project or for any other GUST course assignment.
Sunday: 10:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Note : No Password is required to access the databases from within the GUST campus. Gust Staff can Access the databases from outside the campus by using username and password provided by the library.

Horizon Information Portal (HIP) Library Online Catalog
and A-to-Z
HIP is a web search interface to the library catalog. It offers the ability to search the library database over the World Wide Web using a compatible browser, such as Internet Explorer 5+. It offers the ability to search different indexes such as title, author, subject, Series, international standard serial number (ISSN) and international standard book number (ISBN) alphabetically or by keyword. The session covers searching the HIP by different indexes and retrieving patron information. Find out how to use and access the Information Portal from home or from within the GUST
campus.
A-to-Z is a locator tool listing all library
e-resources, including e-journals, titles in full-text
databases, publisher packages and e-books. A-to-Z also includes
print journal titles.

Turnitin, a plagiarism detection service is subscribed by the A.M.Al-Refai Library to help students and educators to prevent the illegitimate use of internet. It promotes originality in student work, improve student writing and research skills, encourage collaborative learning, and save valuable instructor time.
