How to become a library member?

Faculty, staff and students holding a valid GUST ID automatically become a library member and is eligible to avail library services.

How to borrow materials?

GUST faculty, staff and students can borrow materials by presenting a current valid GUST ID card at the Circulation Desk.

What are the library working hours?

The library working hours:

8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (Sunday-Thursday)

9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. (Saturday)

Working hours vary during the Summer, Vacation periods, Ramadan and Final exam periods.

Where can I find the Library Catalog?

The Library Catalog can be accessed over the World Wide Web using a compatible Web browser, such as Internet Explorer 5+.

Can I renew my books online?

Yes, you can renew books online up to two times using your GUST ID and 12 Digit Civil ID Number.

I am having trouble renewing my books online. What’s wrong?

Books can be renewed up to two times online. On a third attempt, you will get an error message, and will need to renew your books in person. Also, you will be unable to renew your book if another patron has requested it.

Are there digital and special collections available?

Yes, the digital collection in the form of databases, ejournals and ebooks are available in the library. The special collection comprises of Islamic Banking & Finance, Arabic books, theses and dissertations.

I want to recommend book(s) / journal(s) to be added to the library collection. Whom do I contact?

You can fill out purchase request form(s) (available online for download) with complete bibliographic information and submit it to the librarian. To help us prioritize these requests, please indicate the reason this material should be added to our collection.

What do I do if the library does not have the book or article that I need?

You can request Interlibrary Loan by submitting the ILL request form with complete bibliographic information to the librarian. This service requires extra time to locate and receive the book or article.

How do I access databases when I’m not on-campus?

Members of GUST can access databases remotely via Athens single sign-on access.

The database asks me for a password when I access it off-campus. What should I do?

An email with your Athens Username and Password has been sent to every GUST member. With this Username and Password, you may access Athens protected library resources. If you have not received the email, please contact the University Librarian.

Can I set up personalized news alerts with any of the databases available from GUST?

Yes, you can set up personalized news alerts that will be directed to your e-mail.

Who can I talk to if my questions aren’t answered by FAQ?

The staff at the library welcome your questions. You can contact us by phone (+965-2530-7090), in-person, Ask-a-Librarian Service (available on the library website) or via e-mail (library@gust.edu.kw). E-mail questions will be answered within one working day.

Can I use my laptop in the library?

Yes, GUST provides a complete wireless solution.
