Do I need tickets for the ceremony?

GUST graduates do not need tickets, but they should bring their GUST ID. All graduates will receive 4 invitations for guests to attend the graduation ceremony.

 

Can I purchase extra tickets?

No extra tickets may be purchased.

 

What time do I need to be there?

Graduates must report to the GUST Mishref campus no later than 5:30 pm.

 

What time should guests arrive?

Guests should arrive no later than 6:00 pm.

 

How long does the ceremony usually last?

The graduation ceremony will be approximately two and a half hours long.

 

Will my name be read?

Yes. All graduates will come to the stage when their names are read to be congratulated by GUST and receive their diploma.

 

Where do I get my cap and gown?

Gowns will be available everyday from Monday October 3rd, 2017  to Monday October 16th, 2017 ( excluding Fridays and Saturdays) at W6 Reception Area from 3:30pm until 6:30pm, and from 3:30pm until 5:pm on the first rehearsal and second rehearsal.

 

Do I have to wear a cap and gown to the commencement ceremony?

Yes, all faculty and students taking part in the graduation ceremony are required to wear traditional academic attire.

 

On which side do I wear my tassel?

 

Tassel to the right at the beginning of the ceremony.

 

Tassel to the left at the after students are pronounced graduates.

 

Undergraduate students should wear their tassel on the right side of their cap at the beginning of the ceremony. After students are pronounced graduated, tassels are moved to the left side of the cap.

Faculty members and administrators should wear their tassel on the left side of their cap.

 

How do I wear my MBA hood?

Please wear your hood as shown in the picture below.

 

Am I required to attend a graduation rehearsal?

Yes. All graduates must attend both mandatory commencement rehearsal on Tuesday, Oct. 10th, 2017 at 6:00pm in the GUST amphitheater, and Monday, Oct. 16th, 2017 at 6:00pm in the GUST amphitheater.

Anyone who is not present in the second rehearsal will not be permitted to participate in the ceremony.

 

When do I receive my diploma?

You will receive your diploma from the admissions and registrations office, Degree Audit office.

Will professional photos be taken?

Yes. A professional studio will be set up to take photos during the ceremony and will be available from 6:00pm till the end of the ceremony to take individual, group or family photos.

There will be four studios; two in W6-500 and the other two in the gym area. Please make your own arrangements with the studio directly. Please note that it's not allowed to bring your personal photographer to the ceremony.

 

Will there be a video made of the ceremony?

Yes. A video of the ceremony will be made by GUST. Details of how to obtain this video will be made at a late date. Please check back for updates.

 

Is the building handicap accessible?

Yes. If you require GUST assistance either for yourself or for your guest please contact;

Can I keep my GUST email after graduation?

Yes. After graduation your GUST email account will remain active and will be used to communicate Alumni related information.

 

Will dinner be served at the ceremony?

Yes. There will be a light buffet dinner following the ceremony.

 

When and where will I line up for the processional?

Ceremony volunteers will be there to help direct you where you need to go.
