GUST Welcomes Qatar Ministry of Education for STEM Roundtable
GUST’s Center for Teaching, Learning, and Research organized a STEM Education roundtable discussion in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Qatar, in partnership with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences. GUST management attended the opening of the discussion, including Chairman of the BOT, Mohammad Al-Bahar, President, Professor Walid Bouhamra, Dean of Student Affairs, Dr. Raghad Al-Kazemi, and CTLR Director, Dr. Fatemah Al-Hashem.
Professor Walid Bouhamra welcomed the delegation and stressed on the importance of building these connections in order to share experiences and success stories for the development our youth and communities.
The Qatar Ministry of Education delegation was led by the Undersecretary at the ministry, Fawzia Al-Khater, who delved into the discussion on STEM education in Qatar, and their experience incorporating STEM into Qatar school curriculums. The discussion was attended by leaders in Kuwait’s education field including KFAS, Ministry of Education, and Kuwait University officials.
One of their key findings was that it was important to introduce STEM to young adults before they enter the high school stage of education, in order to successfully imbed the love of science, technology, engineering and math.
The discussion also shed light on the various techniques and strategies that can be used to successfully start integrating STEM into Kuwait’s education system.
