The GELL Creative Writing Seminars and Workshops, 1st-2nd May, 2013
GUST English Department hosted Creative Writing seminars and workshops under the tutelage of Cairo-based scholar, presenter and writer Sahar El-Mougy and London-based poet, artist and psychotherapist Seni Seneviratne. They were assisted by young Kuwaiti writers Nada Faris and Dhari Jassem BuYabes both of Kuwait University. The Event was organized by Dr. Ikram Elsherif, professor of English and American Literature at the department, and was funded by The Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS). This Creative Writing event is inspired by last year's GELL international Conference and the enthusiasm it inspired in students as well as the attendance it attracted; and it comes as part of the continuous efforts of the English Department to provide GUST students and the Kuwaiti community with opportunities of exposure to international academics and writers, especially that last year’s conference showed that many students have creative writing potentials and skills which the department and the university are keen to promote and support.
