Dr. Al-Hashem Represents GUST in National Radio Interview
Our very own English Department Assistant Professor, Dr. Fatimah Al-Hashem, was featured yesterday in a 30-minute interview on Kuwait Radio Two (FM97.5). Representing GUST, Dr. Al-Hashem discussed the aim of our Center for Teaching, Learning & Research (CTLR), and its role in supporting Kuwait’s 2035 Vision of achieving a prosperous and sustainable future.
The interview shed light on the center’s efforts and achievements towards achieving its goals, its role in the Kuwait 2035 Vision, and the valuable support provided by the public entities in Kuwait, such as the Ministry of Education, and the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences.
Some of the center’s most notable efforts over the past year have been the creation of the Professional Development of Teachers and Mentors Program, the STEM Education workshops with Tatweer, and its upcoming collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to provide educational programs catered towards Kuwait’s vision.
CTLR has also recently organized a STEM Education roundtable discussion in collaboration with the Ministry of Education in Qatar, in partnership with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences, to gain from Qatar’s experience with STEM, and present the various techniques and strategies that can be used to successfully start integrating STEM into Kuwait’s education system.
CTLR aims to provide a platform for educators to communicate and share best practices for teaching in various fields through a variety of workshops, seminars, and online forum discussions.
