GUST Foundation Program Unit Hosts Orientation for Freshmen
Over a period of two weeks, the Foundation Program Unit (FPU) in collaboration with the student-run Foundation Club, organized an orientation to get the university’s new students settled into the program. The main objective of the orientation is to familiarize new students with the program and all the services available to them, as well as give them all the information they need to transition and excel during this year.
The FPU put together a complete schedule of speakers. During the first session, FPU Director, Dr. Ilene Winokur, introduced the program and gave the students some insights on how to perform their best during their foundation year. Ghada Al-Abdulaly introduced the unit's vision and mission, and highlighted different departments and clubs that would help the students on their journey. The session also showcased former FPU students to share their stories and experiences during their foundation year. At the end of the session, students were presented with giveaways and took commemorative photos at a customized photo booth.
The second session will be held next week, on September 19 and 20, where both English and Math instructors will be detailing their respective programs, giving the students tips on how to do their best and stay on track. The session will include discussions on the syllabi, common assessments, and policies and procedures by course section and level.
We wish our students the best of luck in the coming year.
