GUST Welcomes New Faculty with First Town Hall

GUST welcomed its new faculty this week with a three-day orientation. The goal of the orientation was to acquaint new faculty members with the university management, as well as key processes and procedures they will need to know to ensure an easy transition into their new roles. The event was attended by GUST President, Professor Walid Bouhamra, senior management, as well as directors of all departments and the deans of the colleges; all showing their support to the new faculty.

 

The first day of orientation included a few welcome speeches by the senior management, all stressing the important of the faculty’s role in the growth of the university. From there, the faculty were taken on a campus tour and settled into meetings in their respective colleges. The faculty was able to meet directly with the college Deans and Heads of Department to get insight into what goes on within them. The day concluded with sessions on the functions of various departments and the services they provide to faculty, including Human Resources Department and the Finance Department.

 

 

 

The second day covered GUST’s One Stop Student Services Center presentation, which detailed the services of the departments and how faculty can work together with the OSC for the benefit of their students. Day two also covered all online systems including an overview of the A.M Al-Refai Library services and procedures, SIS system with the PeopleSoft team, Moodle with the E-Leanring team, FIMS & Merit by the Institutional Effectiveness team, and PMOS with the IT Department. 

 

 

The orientation concluded in the first-ever university Town Hall, where presentations were made by the members of GUST’s senior management on the new vision and mission of the university. Faculty got the chance to connect directly with the management and ask any questions they had on the new path of the university.
