Why GUST?
Here at GUST, our students are our main priority and focus, and our goal is to produce well-rounded individuals with the knowhow and skills to independently succeed in tomorrow’s world. This is done by creating a solid foundation, employing experienced faculty, nurturing an active student life; housed in an exceptional campus, offering courses which are internationally recognized and accredited, and allowing students to expand their horizons by studying abroad. At GUST, the degree you pursue is overseen internationally, by the University of St. Louis – Missouri, which guarantees a high level of instruction.
A Solid Foundation
In the mid-1990s, a group of distinguished Kuwaiti academics and businessmen realized the vital importance of establishing a modern university in Kuwait, equal in quality, to other prestigious universities abroad. This university was to serve the ever-increasing educational demands of the local society and the Gulf region. Thus, in 2002, a strategic partnership was established with the University of Missouri at St. Louis (UMSL), and with that, Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) was born.
Experienced Faculty
GUST’s faculty aim to achieve their mission of teaching by contributing their time, effort, experience, talents and dedication to their students. Teaching staff at GUST all come from strong academic backgrounds, and many have practical real world experience that they actively use to provide students with a multi-dimensional educational experience. Faculty members bring both national and international touches to the university.
Active Student Life
GUST is known for its very active student life, with over 15 student clubs and the many activities it hosts throughout the year. With these activities, students have the opportunity to exercise their social, organizational, and leadership skills. After all, a university should not only be a place of learning and education but a place where they have fun, grow, and get involved.
An Exceptional Campus
With its high-tech facilities and modern architecture, GUST’s beautiful campus houses all of its activities: from student life, athletics, and academics, to cultural and social events. This campus also holds multiple computer labs, a state of the art dealing room simulator, TV/Radio studios, a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, several auditoriums, an amphitheater, a FIFA-accredited football field and a tennis court.
Accreditations
In 2013, GUST attained international recognition for its English Foundation Program by the Commission on Intensive English Program Accreditation (CEA) based in the U.S.A. GUST also received an accreditation for its College of Business Administration from AACSB-International in 2014. GUST is the only premier private university in Kuwait to receive this esteemed recognition. The same year, the University received accreditation for its Computer Science Program by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). In 2015, GUST earned College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) accreditation for its Student Success Center, and just last year, GUST received accreditation from the American Communications Association (ACA) for its Mass Communication and Media Department.
Study Abroad
Each year, GUST offers its students the opportunity to apply for summer scholarships to enrich their academic experience through international study. GUST’s summer scholarships, currently at the University of Missouri Saint-Louis and George Washington University, are open to all eligible students from both the College of Arts & Sciences and the College of Business Administration. The summer scholarships are awarded by GUST and provide tuition, a round trip ticket to the United States, and a support allowance.
