Assistant professor of Literature in the English Department

Job Description

The Department of English Language and Literature in the College of Arts and Science at GUST invites applicants for a full-time faculty position in Literature; American and/or English starting in Fall 2024. The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in Literature and provide evidence of continuous current professional activity including publications in academic journals. The successful candidate will teach introductory-level courses in Literature, as well as upper-level undergraduate courses in related fields. Preference will be given to candidates with the rank of Assistant Professor however, those who qualify for appointment at higher ranks are also encouraged to apply. The State of Kuwait does not recognize degrees from online universities.

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate must have completed a PhD in Literature from a reputable North American (U.S. or Canada) or European university with an extensive teaching experience. She/he should have a strong commitment to quality teaching and be active in research. She/he should possess excellent communication skills in English, must be ambitious, self-motivated, hard-working, with the ability to work both individually and as part of a team. Candidates should use technology in all aspects of their teaching and possess experience using a variety of online platforms and teaching tools, implement current teaching and assessment of student learning practices, foster a successful learning environment for all students. Candidates should possess the ability to actively participate in faculty committees and are expected to publish high-quality research in leading peer-reviewed journals.

Gulf University for Science & Technology (GUST)
