GUST Library Hosts Scopus Research Workshop During Faculty Welcoming Week
As part of Faculty Welcoming Week
and the Faculty Town Hall 2026–2027, the GUST Library organized a specialized
research workshop in collaboration with Elsevier to support faculty members in
enhancing their research and literature review capabilities.
The online workshop, titled
“Comprehensive Literature Discovery and Review Using Scopus,” was held on 10
September 2026 and introduced faculty members to key features and research
applications of Scopus, one of the world's leading abstract and citation databases.
The session focused on several
important areas, including comprehensive literature discovery, effective search
strategies, developing high-quality literature reviews, staying current with
emerging research trends, and exploring journals and author profiles within
Scopus.
The workshop was delivered by
Khalid Shalan, Interim Area Manager, Elsevier, who shared practical insights
and best practices for leveraging Scopus to support research discovery,
evidence synthesis, scholarly communication, and research visibility.
This initiative reflects the GUST
Library’s ongoing commitment to supporting faculty research, strengthening
information and research literacy, and connecting the university community with
leading scholarly resources and research tools.
Through initiatives such as this
workshop, the GUST Library continues to advance the University's academic and
research mission by facilitating access to essential research resources and
providing opportunities for faculty members to further develop their research
