GUST Library Receives Book Donation from the Private Collection of the Late Dr. Tarek Fakhreldin
GUST Library is pleased to announce the receipt of a
valuable book donation from the private collection of the late Dr. Tarek
Fakhreldin, a distinguished translator, scholar, and former Chairman of the
Kuwait Translators Association.
The donated collection includes a rich selection of books
covering Kuwaiti history, culture, heritage, translation, language, literature,
and related fields, adding valuable local and scholarly resources to the
Library’s holdings.
Dr. Fakhreldin was also recognized for his contributions to
translation. In 2017, he received Kuwait’s State Incentive Award in Translation
for his Arabic translation of Peter Lienhardt’s Messages from Kuwait 1953–1955.
He also founded Al-Abraj Translation Company in 1978, followed by Atlas
Translation Company in 1999.
The collection has now been reviewed, organized, and is ready for the GUST community to browse and explore at the Library. Students, faculty, researchers, and visitors are warmly invited to discover the titles and make use of these valuable resources.
Donations such as this play an important role in academic
libraries by enriching collections, preserving intellectual and cultural
heritage, and making distinctive resources available to future generations of
students and researchers. GUST Library sincerely appreciates this generous
contribution and the opportunity to preserve and share part of Dr. Fakhreldin’s
scholarly legacy.
