Google Alerts

Google Alerts is a content change detection and notification service, offered by Google. The service sends emails to the user when it finds new results, such as web pages, newspaper articles, blogs, or scientific research, that match the user's search terms.

Create an Alert

  1. Go to Google Alerts.
  2. In the box at the top, enter a topic you want to follow.
  3. To change your settings, click Show options. You can change:
    1. How often you get notifications;
    2. The types of sites you’ll see;
    3. Your language;
    4. The part of the world you want info from;
    5. How many results you want to see;
    6. What accounts get the alert.
  4. Click Create Alert. You’ll get emails whenever we find matching search results.

Edit an Alert

  1. Go to Google Alerts.
  2. Next to an alert, click Edit.
  3. If you don’t see any options, click Show options.
  4. Make your changes.
  5. Click Update Alert.
  6. To change how you get alerts, click Settings, check the options you want and click Save.

Delete an Alert

  1. Go to Google Alerts.
  2. Next to the alert you want to remove, click Delete.
  3. Optional: You can also delete an alert by clicking Unsubscribe at the bottom of an alert email.
