GUST Library Collaborates in “Live Your Major” Course in the English Department
This semester marks the second time that GUST Library has
participated in the English Department’s Live Your Major initiative.
Unlike
last year, this round is a special collaboration between two courses, guided by
Dr. Asma Alduhaim, Head of English Dept. and Assistant Professor and
Dr. Shahd Alshammari, Associate Professor, combining the fields of literature
and translation in innovative ways. The theme was truly inspiring — students
are exploring Kuwait’s folktales and figures and are expected to produce documentary
stories and podcasts, which they will later present at a poster conference.
Their projects reflect dedication, creativity, and curiosity about how these
disciplines can intersect.
The Library was delighted to collaborate by showcasing our collections and providing training on how to search effectively through our unified discovery service (library catalog).
We placed particular emphasis on the print collections, the
Kuwait Collection, and Faculty Publications, while also offering guidance on
finding and evaluating both e-books and other digital resources, including
AI-generated content. This effort not only enhances students’ information
literacy skills but also encourages them to reconnect with the value of print
books and the library space itself.
As always, GUST Library remains committed to collaborating
with faculty and enriching student learning journeys. We look forward to the
outcomes of this exciting initiative.
