It is my pleasure to welcome you to the website of the Computer Science Department at Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST). The department offers a four-year BS program in Computer Science, and it is committed to promoting intellectual excellence and developing knowledge that is relevant to the latest technological developments. The program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, https://www.abet.org.

The curriculum offers hands-on experience and project-based learning, and well prepares the students for the job market. It includes courses in web and mobile applications development, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data science, and networking and communication. Moreover, it includes an internship opportunity and a practicum course that prepares students for successful computing-related careers through professional certificates.

The achievements of the computer science students in programming contests and hackathons are countless. As some examples, they have won the first place in Gulf Programming Contest, Kuwait Collegiate Programming Contest, KFAS Hackathon, KOC Oil and Gas Hackathon, and Dell Technologies Graduation Project Competition for Middle East, Russia, Africa and Turkey. Furthermore, some students have co-authored research articles published in Q1 journals.

The department has highly qualified and experienced faculty members with strong research records in areas such as software engineering, machine learning, optimization, data science, bioinformatics, data mining, intelligent vehicular networks, wireless communication, and web technologies.

The department also has state of the art facilities and labs. This includes Digital Innovation and Robotics Automation (DIRA) lab, Huawei ICT Academy, and CISCO Networking Academy.
