GUST is committed to promoting sustainability and minimizing its environmental impact. As part of this commitment, the university has developed an Energy Conservation Policy to optimize energy use and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Responsibility

It is the responsibility of all faculty, staff, and students to actively participate in energy conservation efforts. Department heads and administrators are accountable for implementing and enforcing energy-saving measures within their respective areas.

Energy Audits

GUST will conduct regular energy audits to assess energy consumption patterns across campus. These audits will identify areas for improvement and guide the development of targeted conservation strategies.

Building Design and Retrofitting

New construction and major renovations will adhere to energy-efficient design principles. The university will prioritize the use of energy-efficient materials and technologies, including lighting, HVAC systems, and insulation. Existing buildings will be retrofitted to meet current energy efficiency standards whenever feasible.

Occupancy Sensors and Timers

All classrooms, offices, and common areas are equipped with occupancy sensors to automatically control lighting and HVAC systems. Timers will be utilized to schedule equipment operation during peak efficiency periods.

Education and Awareness

GUST will implement educational programs to raise awareness about energy conservation among the campus community. Workshops, seminars, and informational campaigns will be organized to encourage energy-efficient practices in daily activities.

Temperature Control

The university will establish temperature guidelines for buildings to optimize comfort while minimizing energy consumption. Individuals are encouraged to dress appropriately for the season, and efforts will be made to avoid unnecessary heating or cooling.

Energy-Efficient Equipment

When purchasing new equipment, GUST will prioritize energy-efficient models that meet or exceed recognized industry standards for energy conservation. This applies to office equipment, laboratory instruments, and any other appliances used on campus.

Monitoring and Reporting

GUST will regularly monitor energy consumption data and provide periodic reports to the campus community. This transparency aims to inform and engage all stakeholders in the university's ongoing efforts to conserve energy.

Continuous Improvement

The university will regularly review and update its Energy Conservation Policy to incorporate new technologies, best practices, and advancements in energy efficiency. Feedback from the campus community will be actively sought to drive continuous improvement.

By adhering to this Energy Conservation Policy, GUST aims to create a sustainable and energy-efficient campus environment for current and future generations.
