Women's Access Schemes
As part of GUST’s institutional rules and regulations, the university ensures that women are provided with equitable access schemes that include mentoring opportunities, scholarships, specialized training, and professional certification programs. With several academic and administrative units led by women, and a wide representation of female students across all disciplines, GUST fosters a supportive and empowering environment. The university is committed to creating a safe space for women within the GUST community, enabling them to learn, lead, and grow as integral contributors to Kuwait’s academic and professional landscape.
She Succeeds – Leadership Program for Female Students
GUST, in collaboration with the Intissar Foundation and the British Council, is proud to host the “She Succeeds” program, a free six-week leadership and mentoring initiative, it is designed specifically for female students, thus supporting SDG 5 indicator 5.3.3 and 5.6.6 . Starting from April 2024, this pioneering program used interactive, theatre-based workshops to develop key leadership skills and empower young women to excel in their careers.
Participants gain practical tools to boost self-confidence, strengthen emotional intelligence, and enhance communication skills, while learning how to navigate professional and social environments effectively. The program also provides opportunities to build a supportive network of like-minded women leaders, gain guidance from mentors, and earn a completion certificate along with exclusive benefits to support their career journey.
Through this initiative, GUST demonstrates its commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of women by providing accessible, high-quality training that prepares future leaders to thrive in any field.
Scholarship Programs at GUST
GUST ensures equal access to higher education for all students through a comprehensive scholarship program that supports academic achievement, financial need, and excellence. These scholarships are available to all eligible students, male and female alike, ensuring fair opportunity and promoting inclusivity across all disciplines.
The university offers 3 main types of scholarships:
Shaikh Jaber Scholarship:
Exclusively available to Kuwaiti students, this scholarship provides a partial tuition discount each semester for students who maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 and have completed at least 15 credits.
Outstanding Scholarship:
Awarded to students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher who have completed at least 45 credits, this scholarship grants a percentage discount on tuition fees each semester. Applications are announced at the start of every semester and submitted online through the official GUST portal.
Merit Scholarship:
This full four-year scholarship is granted to newly admitted students who achieve a high school average of 90% or above and successfully pass the GUST placement test without requiring foundation courses.

Mona is a SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), who has over 8 years of experience in the HR field. She started her career in Talent Management at NBK, and later moved to join the GUST family handling Talent Management. She has solid experience in Talent Acquisition & Retention, Performance Management, Learning & Development, Employee Relations, Business Strategy, HR Consulting and HR Policies & procedures.
Faten has around 17 years of experience in the Administrative Affairs & personnel field. She had been working for 4 years in an investment firm, and later started her career in 2002 with GUST till date. She is currently handling compensation and benefits in the HR Department.
Praveena is an HR professional with 7+ years of experience in Talent Acquisition. She has been associated with the BIG 4 Audit firms back in India. She then started her career in Kuwait by 2012 in an Audit Firm where she joined GUST. Currently she is part of the Talent Management Team.
One Stop Student Service Center
The goal of the Advisement Program is to ensure your progress toward your academic goals and toward completion of degree requirements. In other words, the goal of advising is your academic success. Your advisor is committed to that goal. However, you are responsible for your education. You must decide what your academic and career goals are, and learn the requirements that must be met to achieve them. Your advisor is just that, an advisor; and, as such, is an important resource for your academic success. Get to know your advisor and contact him/her whenever you have questions or concerns.

STUDENTS EMPLOYMENT: TUTORING PROGRAM
GUST includes a tutoring center which has mentoring opportunities done by faculty support group members and Peer tutors. Tutors provide individual and small group tutoring sessions in subjects the tutor has attained a grade of 3.00 or higher. Peer tutors integrate effective study and learning strategies to maximize the tutee’s potential for academic progress. The center is led by female tutors and members which allows a safe space and opportunities for women within the GUST community.
The purpose of tutoring is to increase and enhance mastery of concepts or applications of a specific course of study moreover, peer tutors should help other students and reinforce their own skills and understanding. Tutoring involves a real commitment to learning and scheduling. and offers reinforcement and support outside the traditional classroom setting for students who are having difficulty in understanding the course content.

She L.E.A.D.S. Program — Empowering Women in Leadership
On 6 October 2025, GUST launched the She L.E.A.D.S. Development Program, a pioneering initiative designed to empower women and strengthen their pathways into leadership roles. Held in collaboration with Kuwait International Bank (KIB), the program brought together a cohort of ambitious women working in the banking sector who are committed to shaping the future of leadership in Kuwait. Grounded in a STEM-focused framework, the program offered participants specialized mentoring, innovation-driven training, and skill development sessions that encouraged them to lead with confidence and purpose.
By providing structured support, professional coaching, and targeted development opportunities for women, this initiative directly aligns with SDG 5.3.3, as it expands women’s access to mentorship and leadership training—helping create a more inclusive, equitable, and empowered workforce within the financial sector and beyond.
GUST Women led Translation Internship program
Gulf University for Science and Technology launched the Translation Internship Program, which is the first program in Kuwait that provides translation students with a chance to boost their professional careers in the field of translation launched in 2021, and continues to grow in 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. The internship program is organized by the English department’s Post-Doctoral Researcher, Dr. Asmaa Alduhaim, and was in a collaboration with Kuwait State Television - Channel 2 (KTV2) and Ahli United Bank (AUB). The program was held over a two-month period at both institutions starting in April and ending in June.
Five students enrolled in the program this year, including Mariam Safar and Hessa Al-Toum who were placed as translators at KTV2. Their training included translating Kuwaiti songs, Kuwaiti TV shows, and world news. They also developed their skills in creating subtitles as well as learning the difference between audiovisual translation and other types of translation. Students Nabaa Alhaddad, Mohammed Al-baba, and Shahad Alzaid were placed as translators at Ahli United Bank in Kuwait where they attended several training sessions that instructed them on how to translate technically demanding texts related to banking procedures, documents and letters.
Post-doctoral Researcher at the English Department, Dr. Asmaa Alduhaim, said “This program is a practical introduction to the field of Translation Studies, and an amazing insight into a translators’ career. The internship program is an excellent opportunity to develop your translation skills, congratulations on the five students who completed the internship, a job well done.”
The Translation Internship Program introduces the students to the real-world experience and further gained a better understanding of their potential career and its challenges. The internship further provided students with the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom in a work setting.
CTLR Collaborates with Microsoft on DigiGirlz Program
GUST’s Center for Teaching, Learning, and Research, collaborated with the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS), Microsoft, and the Kuwait Ministry of Education, to host over 15 girls’ high schools on campus for the Microsoft DigiGirlz Program. The program is a digital skills program, aiming to inspire young women to pursue a career in technology.
The event was attended by senior officials including GUST President, Professor Walid Bouhamra, Microsoft General Manager, Charles Nahas, and Dr. Salam Al-Ablani, KFAS Scientific Culture Director.
The event welcomed a panel comprised of leading women in technology, including: Haya Al-Mana, Zain Kuwait’s Sustainability Manager, Noora Al-Askar, Founder of MyNutriBox App, and Arwa Al-Jaser, Founder of Mukkancom IT solutions company. The women all spoke about their journey in the field from how they started to how they succeeded. Students were then able to ask them questions about different aspects of z their experience.
The program then gave students the opportunity to learn about careers in technology, connect with Microsoft employees, and participate in hands-on computer and technology workshops.
GUST Faculty Member Noor Hamadah 8th to Attain Full Graduate Scholarship
GUST has awarded English Foundation Teaching Assistant, Ms. Noor Hamadah, its fully sponsored Graduate Scholarship to enable her to complete her higher studies abroad. Ms. Hamadah has officially been accepted at the University of Leeds to pursue a master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. She is the 8th GUST member to receive this scholarship.
GUST offers this scholarship to a selective number of alumni each year to encourage them to pursue their graduate degrees, in one of the top 100 ranked universities worldwide. The university has already funded seven of its students to pursue their graduate studies, among which are five recipients currently pursuing their degrees:
· Hala Al Mutawa, PhD in Curriculum and Instructions, Pennsylvania State University, US.
· Maryam Al Kandari, PhD in Computer Science, University of Manchester, UK.
· Maryam Al Muhanna, PhD in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics, Arizona State University, US.
· Fatma Al Bader, PhD in Accounting, University of Edinburgh, UK.
· Mohammed AL Muraikhi, PhD in Finance, University of Leeds, UK.
Upon the completion of their degrees they will return to GUST as faculty members. This effort comes as part of GUST’s faculty hiring strategy to integrate its graduates as future faculty members.
The eligibility requirements for the scholarship include Kuwaiti citizenship, be at least 28 years of age, hold an undergraduate degree from GUST, and at least a B+ or a 3.30 GPA score. Applicants should also be able to demonstrate a strong command of the English language, and meet all academic requirements of the concerned universities.
