Mass Communication Lab Supervisor / Lead TA

General Responsibilities:
  • Performs supervisory and/or technical functions in the various MCM labs (two Mac labs, Speech lab, and radio and TV studios) in support of departmental coursework
  • Supervises departmental TA and student worker schedules and requirements
  • Organizes times and supervision of departmental open-lab hours
  • Assists in the set-up, maintenance, and organization of the MCM radio and TV studios
  • Assists in the administration and maintenance of the departmental equipment check-out system
  • Assists in the production of the departmental multi-media requirements
  • Maintains order, safety standards and cleanliness in labs and studios
  • Ensures that labs and equipment are in functional order in coordination with IT Dept.
  • Performs regular inspections of equipment and advises the department on what may need to be replaced, repaired or updated
  • Other duties as assigned


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in communication, design, multimedia or related fields
  • Hands-on experience with Apple Operating Systems and Hardware

Skills and Competencies

  • Professional competence in Adobe Suite programs, including but not limited to: Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Muse, After Effects, Premiere, and Lightroom
  • Photography and videography skills required, audio and lighting skills an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with colleagues and faculty under minimal supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, displays initiative and is a good problem solver
  • Willing to learn new tasks as needed to support the work of the department
