On Tuesday, April 8th, GUST Center for Sustainable Development had the pleasure of hosting a meet-and-greet seminar with Prof. William Megginson, ahead of his keynote speech at the 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Development, Social Responsibility & Business Ethics at GUST. This meeting brought together faculty members from across disciplines for a stimulating exchange over coffee and snacks. The event offered a unique opportunity to engage directly with Prof. Megginson on his internationally recognized research in privatization, sovereign wealth funds, investment banking, and corporate finance. Faculty members shared insights on their current work, explored common research interests, and discussed ideas for future collaboration in a relaxed and collegial setting.

Prof. Megginson is a Professor and Price Chair in Finance at the University of Oklahoma’s Michael F. Price College of Business. He is an internationally recognized expert in privatization, sovereign wealth funds, investment banking, and corporate finance. His research has been widely published in top academic journals, including the Journal of Economic Literature, the Journal of Finance, the Journal of Financial Economics, the Review of Financial Studies, the Journal of Law and Economics, the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis, and Foreign Policy. Additionally, he is author or co-author of nine textbooks. Prof. Megginson’s research has been frequently cited in academic and professional publications: with an h-index of 61, his books and articles have been cited over 28,000 times (according to Google Scholar), and his articles have been downloaded over 66,000 times from the Social Sciences Research Network.

GUST Center for Sustainable Development was honored to host Prof. Effie Kesidou, Chair in Economics of Innovation and Sustainability at Leeds University Business School, and Head of the Graduate School in the Faculty of Business, University of Leeds, for an insightful seminar on:

“Digital Capabilities for Firms’ Climate Mitigation and Adaptation Responses: Evidence from an International Study.”

Prof. Kesidou’s presentation provided valuable insights into how digital transformation can enable firms to adopt more effective climate strategies.

Her research highlighted the crucial role of digital innovation in bridging sustainability and technology, paving the way for a more resilient and adaptive future. The seminar sparked rich discussions on how businesses worldwide can leverage digital tools to tackle climate challenges and implement more sustainable practices.
