Dr. Fida Karam, Chair of GUST Center for Sustainable Development (CSD), presented GUST’s Sustainability Journey during the "University in Focus" conference of the World Association for Sustainable Development (WASD) on July 1st, 2025. This initiative by WASD aims to highlight leading universities and their transformation journeys.
Her presentation offered a comprehensive overview of GUST’s digital sustainability portfolio, developed by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance (AQA) office and powered by SharePoint and Power Automate, which features dedicated dashboards for each of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Dr. Karam addressed the institutional challenges in implementing the SDGs, summarized current campus sustainability practices, and highlighted efforts to reposition GUST as a transformative education provider aligned with Agenda 2030. She also emphasized student engagement, the post-COVID shift toward distributed learning, and GUST’s policy and strategic planning for sustainable development. The presentation concluded with highlights of GUST’s growing global recognition, including participation in international rankings, the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), international conferences, and its vision for a sustainable future.
