Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) is committed to fostering lifelong learning and community engagement by making its educational, athletic, and creative resources accessible to the wider public. In alignment with SDG 4.3.1, the University provides free access to selected campus facilities, laboratories, and learning resources to individuals who are not enrolled as students, promoting continuous education, innovation, and personal growth, Free courses leading to certificate or award and free access to online resources.

Through its state-of-the-art Library, Innovation and Fabrication Labs, and athletic and recreational facilities, GUST serves as a hub for learning and collaboration in Kuwait. These resources are available to alumni, researchers, educators, and community members who wish to develop new skills, conduct research, or participate in educational and cultural programs.

AWS Innovation Hub – Cloud Computing & Collaborative Learning

The AWS Innovation Hub at GUST is a cutting-edge space designed to foster creativity, collaboration, and technological advancement. Established in 2024 in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS), the hub provides students and the wider community with hands-on exposure to cloud computing, data analytics, artificial intelligence, and digital transformation.

Equipped with state-of-the-art technology and modern workspaces, the hub serves as both a learning and innovation center. It regularly hosts courses, workshops, and lab sessions for students in Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science, and Business, offering practical training in AWS tools and cloud-based solutions.

Beyond academics, the AWS Innovation Hub also acts as a collaborative arena for innovation challenges, organized in partnership with AWS and industry experts. These events encourage participants to apply their skills to real-world problems, inspiring entrepreneurial thinking and innovation.

GUST Fab Lab – Creative Engineering & Digital Fabrication Hub

The Fab Lab is a state-of-the-art prototyping center where learners transform ideas into real-world solutions. The facility features:

  • 3D printers, laser cutters
  • Robotics systems and programmable automation tools
  • 3D modeling, CAD/CAM, and design-for-manufacturing software
  • Technical support from trained specialists and faculty

The Fab Lab facilities is open to any member in the community who would like to turn their innovative ideas into a reality. With the presence of a dedicated Fablab engineer, special training courses, meetings and visits are done systematically on campus to open a door for a greater vision, that is making Kuwait a sustainable city.

The Fab Lab regularly hosts:

Huawei Innovation Lab – Advanced Computing & Career-Ready Tech Training

GUST Huawei lab is the only lab in Kuwait that gives courses with Huawei in AI and Big data. An in campus Huawei certified trainer is available to teach members in GUST community and locally in Kuwait on GUST grounds. Huawei lab at GUST is involved in different courses such as the CSC492 course in Computer Science department, and is a part of different events, workshops, and seminars.

In partnership with Huawei, this digital learning lab gives the community access to:

  • Free courses leading to certificate or award.
  • High-performance PCs and professional networking infrastructure
  • Access to AI, cybersecurity, and cloud computing tools
  • Training programs with globally-recognized certifications
  • Public lectures and expert-led sessions focused on future technologies

GUST Startup Lab

The GUST Startup Lab (GSL) is a dedicated innovation-and-entrepreneurship hub founded within GUST in 2024 to nurture and accelerate startup ventures. It offers a year-round incubator where aspiring entrepreneurs and early-stage teams receive one-on-one mentoring, industry-specific expertise, structured resources and networking support.

Apart of the GSL intensive seasonal Bootcamp programs is a 4-week “Startup Bootcamp” where participants advance from ideation through minimum viable product (MVP) development and business modelling to launch strategy.

Through these activities, the Startup Lab empowers students, alumni and regional innovators to transition from concept to high-impact startup, strengthening GUST’s role in the Gulf’s innovation ecosystem and aligning with sustainability goals around quality education, decent work and industry innovation.

GUST Library

The GUST Library aims to support the teaching, learning and research needs of the community. The library:

  • Free access to online resources.
  • Provides access to an extensive range of current, accurate, relevant, information resources (digital, print and audiovisual)
  • Provides information literacy support to enable users to effectively locate and retrieve information
  • Provides tools to assist GUST Faculty with the publishing of scholarly research
  • Provides an inclusive space that is conducive to the study needs of students as well as recreational reading
  • Fosters an environment that promotes life long learning and innovation
  • Provides a space for everyone and strives to be an inclusive space for the GUST Community. A designated study area is available on the Ground Floor for users that require wheelchair access.

All "Users" of GUST Library are entitled to borrowing privileges. A user refers to:

  • A member of the GUST Community (any of the following):
    • a full time or part time faculty member
    • a member of the administrative or support staff
    • a currently enrolled student
    • a member of GUST Alumni
  • Any external user that has GUST Library membership

Electronic research databases are essential components of an academic library's resources.

The selection of databases available at the Library ensure a balanced representation of resources across the subjects and majors taught at GUST.

Through our subscription services, GUST users have both on-campus and remote access to the latest published research as well as archived materials provided by reputable, international databases.

Library Holdings

The titles in the Library's entire Catalog number exceed 22,000. They are organized (classified) according to the Library of Congress (LC) subject classification system.

The titles support all current majors as well as foundation programs and elective courses across the three Colleges at GUST: Arts & Sciences, Business Administration and Engineering.

Special Collections

The Library has several Special Collections comprising:

Audiovisual Collection: The Library has over 2,000 VHS cassettes, audio cassettes, CDs, and DVDs

Embassy Collection: These accommodate the generous print book donations received from the following countries and their embassies here in Kuwait: Austria, China, Germany, France, Spain, India, Japan and USA

Fiction Collection: Includes print book titles from popular series , classic and modern fiction, that are handpicked and suitable for recreational or easy reading

Kuwait Collection: Includes print book titles about local heritage, religion, history, geography, economy and literature (English and Arabic titles)

Reference Collection: Includes typical reference materials like dictionaries, atlases, thesauri, handbooks, etc.

Reserve Collection: Includes print book titles nominated by GUST faculty members (core textbooks)

Reserve items are accessible from the Library's Information Desk and have circulation restrictions placed on them to ensure fair access

Executive Education offers the public a unique opportunity to further advance their studies and careers. Through well formulated methods of teaching, and necessary tools that help participants to pass certifications.

Through well formulated methods of teaching, participants will be provided with the necessary tools to pass and secure certifications as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) for accounting and finance professionals. In addition, those planning to study a program delivered in English or companies that may require English language proficiency, PACE also offers public courses in General English, Test of English as a Foreign Language (ToEFL), Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT), and Business English Certificate Program.
