Anti-Harassment Policy

Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST) is committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and harassment-free campus for all members of its community. In alignment with SDG 10.6.11, the University enforces a comprehensive Anti-Harassment Policy that covers all areas of university operations — including academic, administrative, and student activities.

Workplace Anti-Harassment Policy

GUST’s Anti-Harassment Policy prohibits all forms of harassment — verbal, physical, visual, or sexual — against any individual on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, nationality, social status, or physical or mental disability. The policy applies to all employees, faculty, students, contractors, and visitors, ensuring that everyone is treated with dignity and respect.

Complaints of harassment are handled confidentially and fairly under the Grievance Policy, which provides secure reporting channels and protects individuals from retaliation or disadvantage. The Human Resources Department ensures that all reported incidents are reviewed promptly and resolved in accordance with GUST’s Code of Conduct and Kuwait Labour Law.

Student Code of Conduct

For students, GUST enforces a Student Code of Conduct that reinforces the same principles of respect, equality, and non-harassment. The Code explicitly states that “intimidation and harassment have no place in a university community,” emphasizing the University’s responsibility to foster a positive and supportive environment conducive to learning and personal development.

Students, faculty, and staff are expected to interact with mutual professionalism and respect. Any student found to have violated these standards is subject to formal sanctions, which may include warnings, probation, suspension, or expulsion, depending on the severity of the misconduct. The Code applies to all student conduct on campus, during university-sponsored activities, and in any situation where student actions may affect the safety or well-being of others.

By combining these institutional frameworks — the Anti-Harassment Policy, Grievance Policy, and Student Code of Conduct — GUST ensures that both employees and students are protected from all forms of harassment and discrimination. Through training, awareness programs, and strong enforcement, GUST promotes a culture where everyone can study and work in an environment of mutual trust, equality, and respect.

These combined policies reflect GUST’s commitment to SDG 10: Reduced Inequalities and SDG 5: Gender Equality, demonstrating a strong institutional stance against harassment in all its forms and across every level of the university community.
