She Succeeds – Leadership Program for Female Students
GUST, in collaboration with the Intissar Foundation and the British Council, is proud to host the “She Succeeds” program, a free six-week leadership and mentoring initiative, it is designed specifically for female students, thus supporting SDG 5 indicator 5.3.3 and 5.6.6 . Starting from April 2024, this pioneering program used interactive, theatre-based workshops to develop key leadership skills and empower young women to excel in their careers.
Participants consisted of only female students who gained practical tools to boost self-confidence, strengthen emotional intelligence, and enhance communication skills, while learning how to navigate professional and social environments effectively. The program also provides opportunities to build a supportive network of like-minded women leaders, gain guidance from mentors, and earn a completion certificate along with exclusive benefits to support their career journey.
Through this initiative, GUST demonstrates its commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of women by providing accessible, high-quality training that prepares future leaders to thrive in any field.
Women Empowerment and Equality Seminar Series
As part of GUST’s ongoing commitment to advancing gender equality and women’s empowerment, the University hosted the Women Empowerment and Equality Seminar Series in October 2024, featuring inspiring talks by accomplished women from diverse professional backgrounds. The sessions explored important themes such as leadership and inclusion, managerial roles and responsibilities, and the value of self-awareness and self-belief in achieving professional growth.
This initiative directly supports SDG 5.6.6: Women’s Mentoring Schemes, as it created a platform for female students and staff to engage with experienced women leaders who served as mentors and role models. Through these discussions, participants received practical guidance, shared experiences, and personal encouragement from successful professionals, helping them navigate their own academic and career paths. The series not only provided mentorship and inspiration but also strengthened GUST’s efforts to build a supportive community where women can grow, lead, and contribute confidently across all sectors.
She L.E.A.D.S. Program — Empowering Women in Leadership
On 6 October 2025, GUST launched the She L.E.A.D.S. Development Program, a dedicated mentoring and development initiative designed to support women in advancing their careers and strengthening their leadership skills. Delivered in collaboration with Kuwait International Bank (KIB), the program connected participants with experienced industry professionals who provided structured mentorship, guidance, and coaching grounded in STEM and innovation frameworks.
Through interactive workshops, one-on-one mentoring, and leadership training sessions, the program equipped women—particularly those in the banking and finance sector—with the tools to lead confidently, embrace innovation, and drive meaningful change within their fields. By offering a sustained mentoring experience accessible to a broad group of participants, the initiative aligns with SDG 5.6.6, demonstrating GUST’s commitment to creating mentorship pathways that empower women and enhance their professional growth.
