Excellence and Opportunity

Welcome to our university, where excellence meets opportunity in the heart of Kuwait. With a rich history spanning over two decades, we are proud to have established ourselves as a premier institution dedicated to delivering world-class education that rivals renowned universities worldwide. Our mission is clear: to meet the growing educational needs of our local society and the Gulf region while equipping young leaders and professionals with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the rapidly evolving global technological era.

The Birth of Gulf University for Science and Technology

In the early 1990s, a visionary group of distinguished Kuwaiti academicians and businessmen recognized the pressing need for a modern university that would match the caliber of prestigious institutions abroad. Thus, the Kuwaiti Academic Group was born, comprising 41 esteemed faculty members from Kuwait University. Their collective efforts and extensive research led to the birth of our vision, the Gulf University for Science and Technology (GUST).

GUST's Journey to Success

To bring our vision to life, we forged a strategic partnership with the University of Missouri-St. Louis, a renowned international institution. Their expertise and guidance were instrumental in shaping our path forward. In 2000, the Private Universities Decree, No. 34, issued by the State of Kuwait, facilitated the establishment of our temporary campus in Hawally, equipped with the necessary infrastructure. Finally, in 2002, the Emiri Decree, No. 156, solidified GUST's legal establishment as the first private university in Kuwait, marking the beginning of our inaugural academic year in 2002-2003.

Growing Student Body and Graduation Milestones

Since our humble beginnings, GUST has continuously evolved, expanding both its educational offerings and organizational capacities. Our commitment to excellence is evident in our growing student body, as more and more aspiring learners choose GUST as their academic home. In June 2007, we celebrated our first commencement ceremony, proudly awarding diplomas to approximately four hundred graduates. These accomplished individuals were warmly welcomed by Kuwait's leading business sectors, a testament to the quality education they received at GUST.
