Lab Supervisor / Instructor for Political Science in the Humanities & Social Sciences

The Department of Humanities & Social Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at GUST invites applicants for a full-time lab supervisor/instructor position in Political Science starting in Fall 2026. Responsibilities: 1. Deliver lectures and/or tutorials in the area of specialization and as advised by the HOD/Dean. The normal teaching load is 25 hours/week ,along with other (administrative) duty hours to be covered as per the Kuwait Labor Law. 2. Provide academic advising and assistance during workshop & laboratory sessions. 3. Support faculty and students in resourcing and implementation phase of student projects, as assigned. 4. Assist and supervise the development, maintenance of labs and equipment. 5. Educate students and faculty about the usage of machines, tools and equipment within the lab. 6. Focal point for (receiving, installing, and maintenance) laboratory equipment and supplies. 7. Maintain a schedule of preventative maintenance for all equipment and keeps adequate manuals and maintenance logs for equipment and parts. 8. Maintain consumable materials store and ensures adequate inventory levels for supplies also to keep a track of borrowed equipment and tools. 9. Observe and reinforce safety and housekeeping procedures and protocol within the laboratory. 10. Contribute to the development by observing and implementing college and system-wide policies and procedures, and by participating in extra-curricular activities and community events. 11. Attend meetings, workshops and conferences as assigned. 12. Aid HOD in the purchasing procedures about the equipment and follow up on the financial aspects with the finance department concerning purchases for projects. 13. Perform other related duties as assigned by the HOD.
Minimum Qualifications
1. The applicant must have completed a master’s in political science. 2. The ideal candidate should have a strong commitment to quality teaching, and have a mix of academic, professional and technical expertise in this area. 3. He/she should possess excellent communication skills in English, must be ambitious, self-motivated, hard-working, with the ability to work both individually and as part of a team. 4. The successful candidate will teach Political Science courses to undergraduate students in accordance with the department’s curriculum and academic requirements. 5. Demonstrated teaching and supervisory experience in an instructional laboratory or technology for a minimum of 1 to 2 years.
