GUST Represented in the KFAS Hackathon Winning Team
GUST was represented on the winning team at the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS) COVID-19 Virtual Hackathon earlier this month, including Computer Science students Abdulwahab Al-Saleh and Osama Kassem, and Teaching Assistant, Ali Kelkawi. The 24-hour virtual coding event was organized in collaboration with CODED, Agility, and MIT Media Lab.
The KFAS Hackathon was a 24-hour virtual coding marathon where participants from over 20 teams were required to develop beta digital solutions that address challenges faced by government and private entities in Kuwait during the COVID-19 pandemic. During the hackathon, the teams were presented with six different challenges to implement in the form of mobile or web applications, and eventually choose one of the developed solutions to present to a panel of judges. The winning teams received a KD5,000 cash prize and their solutions will be considered as practical solutions for entities that have been impacted by COVID-19.
