About the Faculty Member

I am a Senior Instructor of Spanish at Gulf University for Science and Technology, where I teach Spanish 101 to students starting the language from zero. I hold a master's degree in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language, and I have 5 years of experience teaching Spanish to adult and young learners, both in individual lessons and in group settings. My work is grounded in communicative and action-oriented language teaching, in line with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). I believe learners should use the language for real purposes from the very first lesson: introducing themselves, asking questions, and understanding everyday Spanish long before they have mastered its grammar. Grammar and vocabulary are taught in context, as tools for communication rather than as ends in themselves. Over the years I have taught learners from many linguistic and cultural backgrounds, and much of my recent experience has been in Kuwait's international education sector. This has given me a close understanding of the specific challenges that English- and Arabic-speaking students face when learning Spanish, from pronunciation to sentence structure. Alongside my teaching, I design Spanish courses and learning materials, and I am particularly interested in how structure, frequent practice and clear progress help learners stay motivated over time. I also make extensive use of digital tools to give students regular feedback and to support their learning beyond the classroom.
