About the Faculty Member

Dr. Park is a Professor in English Department at Gulf University for Science and Technology. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, with a dissertation titled "A and A-bar Dependencies and Minimalism in Movement Theories: scrambling and binding." His teaching and research interests are in the Language Absolute-Statistical Universals, Labelling Algorithm, Biolinguistics, Psycholinguistics (PDC), Language Acquisition, and Cognitive Science. His current research projects include 'The Cross-linguistic Analysis of Semantic Integration in Syntactic Choice,' 'The Internal Structure of DPs in Standard Arabic,' and 'The Effects of Case Deletion in Language Processing.' He has published widely in these areas and also continues work on the deep learning (AI) based machine translation in natural language processing (NLP), focusing on what syntactic knowledge the language model contains and if there is a language universal in the performance. While not in the office, he enjoys golfing and hiking.
