About the Faculty Member
Ziad Salem holds a PhD from the Artificial Intelligence Laboratories, Systems Engineering Division, School of Engineering, Cardiff University, UK, and obtained his habilitation from the University of Perpignan Via Domitia, France, in cooperation with Aleppo University. He earned his bachelor's degree from the Automatic Control and Industrial Electronics Faculty, Aleppo University, Syria. Ziad is currently an associate professor in the Computer Science Department at Gulf University for Science and Technology. He has extensive experience as a senior scientist at Joanneum Research in Austria, focusing on Smart Connected Lighting, and as a postdoctoral researcher at Karl-Franzens University, Graz, Austria. Ziad has also held academic positions at the American University of Nigeria, Aleppo University, and Al-Shahbaa University, where he was the dean of the Information Engineering Faculty. His research interests include Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Knowledge Discovery, Visible Light Communication, Positioning and Sensing, and Computer Science. With over 20 years of experience in teaching and research across the Middle East, Africa, and Europe, he has supervised numerous graduate and postgraduate students and contributed to national and European projects. Ziad has published extensively in high-ranked journals and conferences.
