About the Faculty Member
Dr. Maryam Abdullah is a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the Gulf University for Science & Technology (GUST), Kuwait. She holds a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Manchester, where her research focused on Artificial Intelligence for drug discovery, including quantitative structure–activity relationship (QSAR) modeling, transfer learning, explainable machine learning, and novel oversampling techniques for regression on highly imbalanced biochemical datasets. She teaches a range of introductory and advanced computer science courses, including programming and applied computing. She actively contributes to departmental service through roles in academic planning, events and outreach, and industry collaboration initiatives such as the Industrial Software Solutions Challenge. Her broader research interests extend to AI-enabled digital health, environmental analytics, and interdisciplinary applications of machine learning.
