Assistant Professor for Professional Writing/ Business Writing in the English Department
Description
The Department of English Language and Literature in the College of Arts and Sciences at GUST invites applicants for a full-time faculty position in English with a specialty in Professional Writing: Composition and Rhetoric, and Business Writing in Spring/Fall 2026. The ideal candidate should hold a PhD in Academic Writing/Rhetoric/ Professional/Creative writing. In addition, candidates should provide evidence of continuous current professional activity, including publications in academic journals. The State of Kuwait does not recognize degrees from online universities. The successful candidate will teach Professional Writing courses to undergraduate students. The teaching load will be split between the three courses based on the needs of the Department. In addition to teaching and service, it is expected to maintain an increasingly significant professional and/or scholarly practice
Minimum Qualifications
The applicant must have completed a PhD in Composition/Rhetoric/Academic Writing or any related field from a reputable North American or European university with an extensive teaching experience. The ideal candidate should have a strong commitment to quality teaching, and have a mix of academic, professional and technical expertise in this area and must be ambitious, self-motivated, hard-working, with the ability to work both individually and as part of a team. Candidates should use technology in all aspects of their teaching and possess experience using a variety of online platforms and teaching tools, implement current teaching and assessment of student learning practices, and foster a successful learning environment for all students. Candidates should possess the ability to actively participate in faculty committees and are expected to publish high-quality research in leading peer-reviewed journals
