Web / Moodle Developer

Key Role:
  • The LMS Web Developer assists with the implementation of a
    new Moodle system by developing custom plug-ins and modules. The key role for
    the LMS Web Developer is to:

  • Development
    of the OS, application and scripted infrastructure of the Moodle VLE.
  • Development
    or delivery of client-side applications on desktop and mobile platforms.
  • Design,
    planning, testing, documentation and release of the above.
  • Strategic
    technical input to GUST, their supported departments and the e-learning committee.
  • Test
    installation of new modules that suits environments requirement

Responsibilities:

E learning

  • Troubleshoot
    reported errors, evaluating potential software patches and upgrades, performing
    updates, diagnosing software bugs and proposing solutions.
  • Develop,
    customize and integrate Moodle systems with other technologies.
  • Create
    web pages in a combination of codes such as PHP, HTML, JavaScript and JQuery.
  • Responsible
    for escalated help tickets requiring account and other database modifications.
  • Stays up-to-date
    with the Moodle open-source community by interacting in and following online
    forums, bug trackers, and release notes.
  • Manages
    software testing and quality assurance procedures, including code reviews,
    testing on non-production systems, and evaluation of appropriate software
    settings.
  • Conduct
    system updates, backup schedule and configuration settings.
  • Coordinates
    with dept. or third party agencies to ensure software changes are
    production-ready before release.
  • Develops
    new modules and tools for the Moodle environment; evaluates, installs, and
    configures third party modules; develops and/or evaluates new applications and
    tools associated with instructional services.
  • Performs
    code reviews and debugging as needed.
  • Other
    duties as assigned by Director of Elearning Center of Excellence

Technical Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience with one or more of the major LMS,
    including Moodle, Blackboard or Canvas.
  • Minimum three years? experience working as part of a team 
  • Experience in managing eLearning portals.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills along with customer
    service and interpersonal skills

Technical Skills

  • Solid
    understanding of Moodle Architecture and APIs integration, Migration and
    Development.
  • Extensive
    knowledge of LAMP Programming in Moodle LMS Installation and customization
  • Experience
    in detailed customization of Moodle features or modules and SCORM content.
  • Hands-on
    experience in Moodle 2.x, PHP 5.x, MySQL and JavaScript
  • Moodle,
    Linux, Apache, MySQL / SQL Server, PHP, Joomla, Drupal
  • Knowledge
    in AJAX, jQuery / YUI, JavaScript, XHTML, CSS and AngularJS
  • Knowledge
    in MySQL and other RDBMS (normalization, indexes, triggers and procedures)
  • ELearning
    Content Authoring Tools: Articulate Studio, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia Studio,
    SCORM 2004, Big Blue Button etc.
  • KNET Payment Gateway integration
