GUST articles published in Q1 Academic Journals
The Functional Materials Group, lead by Dr. Bassam Alameddine, Associate Professor of Chemistry at the Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at GUST, has submitted six academic articles which have been accepted and published by first quartile (Q1) academic journals during the 2016/17 academic year.
Q1 denotes the top 25% of the Impact Factor distribution, as determined by Journal Citation Reports, which are published by Thomson Reuters, and compile yearly rankings of science and social science journals, in the subject categories relevant for the journal. Quartile rankings, therefore, are derived for each journal vis-à-vis its subject categories in accordance to which segment of the IF distribution the journal occupies for that subject category
Founded in 2013, FMG focuses on finding novel materials for electronics and fuel cell applications, and has secured several research grants in excess of KWD 175,000 from the Kuwait Foundation for the Advancement of Sciences (KFAS).
The team prides itself on its close collaboration with prominent researchers from local and international institutions such as Kuwait University, Federal Polytechnic Institute of Lausanne (EPFL), the University of Strasbourg, the University of Bonn, the University of Freibourg, and the University of Washington in Seattle.
