Dr. Shahd Al Shammari Wins Social Impact Award at Study UK Alumni Awards
Celebrated for the first time on a national scale, the British Council organized the Study UK Alumni Awards, where three UK alumni-based graduates in Kuwait were honored for their achievements as business professionals, entrepreneurs, and community leaders, as well as for their important contributions to strengthening collaborative ties between the UK and Kuwait. Among them was GUST’s Dr. Shahd Alshammari, Assistant Professor in the English Department, who won the Social Impact Award.
The Social Impact Award recognizes the achievements of alumni who have made a noticeable contribution to creating positive social change and improving the lives of others.
Dr. AlShammari is a widely published scholar whose articles appear in internationally renowned peer-reviewed academic journals, and is also an accomplished creative writer. Her work has been featured at numerous events, including the Emirates Literature Festival, and the Malta Book Festival. Dr. AlShammari’s focus on women and disability studies solidifies her among the best young early-career researchers in the Gulf region.
